Huangshan Mao Feng (黄山毛峰) translates as "Fuzzy Peaks of Huangshan," and Huangshan itself means "Yellow Mountains." This is a green tea from Huangshan prefecture in Anhui Province, one of the most celebrated in China.
Anhui is famous for various teas: it produces the yellow Huoshan Huang Ya, the dark Lu'an Lan Cha and the black Qimen, but the region's chief treasure is considered to be Mao Feng. According to the book "Famous Teas of China," tea production in Huangshan began under the Song emperor Jiayou, in 1056-1063. Today, alongside Longjing, this variety is among the most famous green teas in the country.
