Huang Shan Mao Feng is one of the best-known Chinese green teas, originating in Anhui province, around Shexian County near the Yellow Mountains. It is a delicate, dry-tasting tea that is easy to brew and pleasant to drink at any time of day. The name translates as "fuzzy peak" and refers to the look of the leaf, with its fine down.
The 2026 harvest was picked in April, during the spring picking season. This year a higher grade was chosen for the batch than in 2025: the leaf is slightly younger and smaller, with more buds. The leaf is not rolled or shaped, so the cell walls stay intact and the compounds pass into the brew more slowly, which makes the tea forgiving to brew.

How to Brew
Gongfu brewing (gaiwan):
- Tea: about 5 g per 100-120 ml gaiwan
- Water: 85-90 °C, hotter water is also fine
- First infusions: 20-30 s, then increase the time gradually
Western-style brewing:
- Tea: about 3 g per 200 ml
- Water: 85-90 °C
- Time: 3-5 min
Mao Feng opens up best in a gaiwan: in a tall glass the leaf does not sink well to the bottom.
Storage
Store in a tightly closed jar in a cool, dark place, away from moisture and strong odors. Green tea is best enjoyed within a year of harvest, while the aroma is still fresh.
