Ya Shi Xiang Dan Cong is one of the best-known and most sought-after oolongs in China, native to the Phoenix Mountains (Fenghuangshan) in Guangdong province. Despite the unusual name, which translates as "duck dropping aroma," the tea has nothing in common with that smell: according to one legend, the name was invented to conceal the value of the variety and protect the bushes from theft.
The misty climate, fertile soils and centuries-old traditions of the region give the Dan Cong family of oolongs a vivid individuality. Ya Shi Xiang is especially prized for its floral and fruity aroma and multifaceted flavor.
