Jin Zhen ("Golden Needles," 金针) is one of the most refined black teas of Yunnan, often called the king of black teas. The large buds, covered in golden down, really do resemble needles, and the leaves come out long, even, and beautiful. This is grade 1 in our catalog.
The tea's homeland is Yunnan province, where the mild climate and fertile soils suit tea bushes. For Jin Zhen, only the youngest, most tender spring buds are taken, picked by hand. The infusion is sweet, full, and aromatic, so the tea is good on its own as well as with honey, citrus, or light desserts.
