This 2018 shu pu-erh is an aged, mature pu-erh from Yunnan. Shu ("ripe") means the raw leaf undergoes accelerated fermentation and is then left to rest: over several years the flavor becomes softer, rounder and deeper. This tea is a good example of how aging changes pu-erh.
The leaf is loose, not pressed, so it is easy to measure and brew in any way. The liquor is dark, dense and velvety, with a warm flavor of woody and nutty notes.

Why You'll Love It
This shu pu-erh is an excellent choice for a first introduction to pu-erh: it is soft, with no harshness and no "cellar" notes. Enjoy it in the morning instead of coffee, during the day for focused work, or in the evening in cold weather to warm up. The leaf holds up to 8-10 infusions and stays delicious to the end.
The tea pairs well with chocolate, nuts and dried fruit and is perfect for long tea sessions with friends.
How to Brew
- Gongfu brewing (short infusions): 5-7 g per 100-150 ml gaiwan, water 95-100 °C. Discard the first infusion (rinse), then brew short infusions of 10-20 s, gradually adding time.
- Western-style brewing (teapot): 3-4 g per 200 ml, water 95-100 °C, 3-5 min, after a rinse. The leaf can be re-steeped.
Storage
Store in tightly closed packaging in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from light and strong odors. Pu-erh dislikes humidity and the refrigerator.
