The Teapot "Simplicity" is an example of the traditional ancient Nixing pottery (坭兴陶) from Qinzhou in Guangxi province. It was made entirely by hand by a local master in the classic round "Xi Shi" shape. Thanks to high-temperature firing, the clay has become very resonant.
The teapot is made from a blend of two clays, red and white, with properties very similar to Yixing clay. The photo shows a smooth rounded shape in a warm brown color with a matte sheen, a small ball-shaped knob on the lid, a short spout and a ring handle.
Characteristics
- Type: brewing teapot
- Material: Nixing clay (a blend of red and white clay)
- Capacity: 210 ml
- Size: width 12 cm, height 9 cm, diameter 8 cm
- Shape: classic "Xi Shi"
- Making: entirely handmade
Features
- Substantial, dense and resonant.
- The lid is well fitted and holds the water lock very well.
- All parts are arranged symmetrically and on one line.
- Every teapot has a unique color: it depends on the chemical makeup of the clay and the uneven flow of oxygen during firing, so no two pieces are the same.
How to Use
Rinse the teapot with hot water, add the tea, pour in hot water and serve the infusion in short infusions (gongfu style). It is best to use the teapot for one type of tea.
Care
Wash with hot water without detergents; after use, wipe it and leave it with the lid open so that the teapot dries completely.
