The Chahe "Plum Branch" is a clay tea presentation vessel for getting to know your tea. In a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, the dry leaf is placed in the chahe before brewing: it is examined, brought to the nose and warmed with the breath so that the aroma begins to open. The chahe is also handy for transferring the tea into a teapot or gaiwan and measuring the portion.
The photo shows a boat-shaped bowl of dark brown matte clay with a rough, slightly uneven texture. One side is open like a scoop, so the tea is easy to pour out, and small relief details can be seen along the lower edge.
