The Fair Cup (Chahai) "Fishing" is a ceramic vessel for pouring the infusion evenly into tea cups. In the fair cup, tea brewed in a gaiwan or teapot is blended, so that the flavor and strength are the same in every cup. The capacity of the fair cup is 205 ml.
The ware is covered with a thin glaze in a pleasant matte shade. The photo shows a light white body that fades toward the bottom into a soft smoky-gray gradient, and a thin light rim. A landscape is painted in ink on the side: misty mountains, birds and a small boat with a fisherman in turquoise clothing. The pouring spout allows for precise serving.
